MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Friends of Blue Sky Canyon is a nonprofit public benefit corporation which was founded by an informal citizens' group to preserve and protect Blue Sky Ecological Reserve in Poway. The reserve is owned by the California Department of Fish and Game, the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation, and the City of Poway.

Friends promotes educational and interpretive activities at the Reserve, providing funding for the purchase of items needed for docent and public education, such as binoculars, library books, videos, slide projectors, taxidermy display animals and science displays. We assist in funding continuing education of the docents and volunteers, and host an annual retreat for those same docents and volunteers. We are also involved in habitat restoration, such as planting native oaks.

Your membership will help us to teach the people who visit the Reserve about the wonders of nature. We hope that what they learn will lead them on the path to understanding, love and conservation of the world around them.
