Attention all dogs! Bring your human and join docent Anna Gateley-Stanton for a walk in Blue Sky. Don’t forget your leash, treats, and plenty of water! 

Wednesday, December 10- 8:00 am to 10:00 am. weekly wednesday hikes

Starting October 1 through December 24, join docent Lisa Higbee every Wednesday at 8:00 am on her regular 2-3 mile through the Reserve. Pace is dependent on the group. Weather permitting, heavy rains hikes will be canceled. Please leave your dogs at home for this hike.

This is the last official docent-led hike of the year. Join Celeste Larson for an interpretive 5.5 mile loop though Blue Sky and around Lake Poway. Bring a hat, water, and good cheer!

Monday, January 6- 9:00 to 11:00 am. hiking for fun and fitness

Hiking is one of the best things you can do for your health. What better way to meet new friends, de-stress, connect with nature, and get into shape? Distance and elevation will gradually increase over six Monday mornings in January and February. All fitness levels welcomed. Registration is not required. Bring water as there is no potable water in the Reserve. Note: No hike on January 20.

Join naturalist Carol Simpson in a fun adventure for kids of all ages. Search for some of the hidden treasures of Blue Sky Reserve. Approximately 1 mile. Remember to bring water!

Come share family time and connect with nature! Docents lead children through a series of activities allowing them to experience nature while having fun in the outdoors. A Nature Ranger certificate will be issued upon completion of activities. Limited to 15 children aged between 6 and 10 years old. Email Interpretive Park Ranger.

sunday, february 16- 8:00 am. count the birds in blue sky’s backyard

Join docent Celeste Larson to discover how many winged residents we can find in the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve. It's the Great Backyard Bird Count this weekend! The group will follow along the main trail, the old campground and the creekside trail for about 2 to 3 miles at an easy pace to count birds at Blue Sky. We could use a good bird's eye for sure, but all eyes are welcome

On this 1-mile hike, Naturalist Carol Simpson will identify some of the many plants found in Blue Sky Ecological Reserve and how they were used by the native people of this area, the Kumeyaay.

Join docent Eric Brewer on a slow-paced interpretive plants and habitats tour of Blue Sky Ecological Reserve.

thursday, march 20- 8:00 am. bring in spring around the lake

Join us for an interpretive hike through Blue Sky Ecological Reserve and around Lake Poway. The vernal equinox occurs at 2:01 a.m.! Docent Celeste Larson leads this interpretive hike to observe seasonal changes in our habitat and enjoy some lovely vantage points through Blue Sky and around Lake Poway. This is a moderate 5.5 mile loop. 

saturday, march 22- 9:00 to 11:30 am. Better together

Learn about animals that live or work in groups, brush up your artistic talents with a craft, and look for animal teamwork in action on a hike in the Reserve. Many animals rely on each other to survive. Whether it’s for protection or for help gathering food, it’s clear that they are better together.  Limited to 24 children. An adult must accompany their child. Registration required.
